Is it worth it to wait for love even if it may not love you back??

I have been in love with this guy for over six years now. I know he likes me, but he's just shy. Plus all of his friends hate me, so he's scared to admit he likes me, scared of what others will think. I think he may be on the brink of telling me, but I'm not too sure. I will wait forever for him, because I know I can love no other. But my question is, is he worth waiting for, even if he may not love me back??
